about

Unlike most of my songs, this one came together in about an hour. I was thinking a lot about where my life has taken me, where I've been, and ultimately where I'm headed. The good, the bad, and the not-yet-determined.

For as long as I can remember, I've had people telling me how things are, what I should be doing, what to think about this and that, what I should and shouldn't spend my time and/or money on, etc...and the longer life goes on, the more I realize that more often than not, the people telling you those things don't have it all figured out either. Nobody does.

We're all just trying to figure this life out. We're all different. We all make mistakes. We all fail. We all have different thoughts and opinions and passions and skills and hardships...and yet, we're still so quick to speak & slow to listen. We offer unsolicited advice instead of just making eye contact and truly listening. We value things and not people. We desperately try to label everything we can as fast as we can.

Find your own way, listen to advice from people who truly love you and have proven to be worthy of offering advice, follow your passions and trust your instincts, challenge everything, and be okay when it doesn't work out. Go easy on yourself - this life is hard.

Hope you enjoy the song! It truly means the world to me anytime somebody gives me a few minutes of their time. If you like it, I'd really appreciate you helping me out by:

- buying it
- streaming it
- following me on social media/streaming services
- save it on Spotify/Apple Music
- share it on social media
- shoot me a message!

lyrics

I've been wrong more than I've been right
I've been told that I'm difficult, and not too bright
Didn't finish college, wasn't made for school
Mom and dad, they won't say it
They think I'm a fool

Maybe they were right all along
Should be chasing big money instead of writing these songs
That life wouldn't mean a thing
I've got music in my veins

Tried to take the narrow path
The one they all preach about
Left me bruised and broken
Filled me with doubt
I try my best to be a good man
Say what I mean, mean what I say
Be as real as I can

Maybe they were right all along
Should be sitting in church playing their songs
I had that life and it took it's toll
I've got new music in my soul

Went a thousand miles in the wrong direction
Tried everything to avoid disappointing you
And I ended up hating my own reflection
But now I know what I'm meant to do

Maybe I was right all along
I'm gonna chase my dreams until I'm gone
You may never know my name
But I've got music in my veins
You may never know my name
But I've got music in my veins
